Charlie Moore Bsc BVetMed MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Biography

Charlie graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in 2006 and joined the practice that year. He originates from Wells, and his family owned Harrill's Butchers on Wells High St, which is now a branch of C&G. He has two dogs and seven cats. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family-with three small children there is little time for anything else! Charlie covers all aspects of veterinary care within the practice, being the last remaining mixed veterinary practitioner, but has a particular interest in surgery of both farm animals and pets.

Clare Gaunt BVetMed MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Biography

Clare grew up on a smallholding in North Wales. She qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2004 and worked in London for 8 Years, with 4 years working for the RSPCA. She returned to Wales to work in emergency and critical care before moving to Somerset to join the Westfield team in 2016. Clare enjoys running and cycling in the beautiful Somerset countryside. She is currently studying for her RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.

Suzy Wheeler BVetMed GPCert (SAS) Cert AVP (GSAS) MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Biography

Suzy qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2004, and has worked as both a farm and small animal vet. She is now purely a small animal vet, and has a particular interest in surgery. Suzy gained the General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery GPCert(SAS) in 2012, and the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (General Small Animal Surgery)CertAVP(GSAS) in 2018. She is kept very busy outside of work with her own cat, horses, sheep, chickens, dogs and two young children.

Rachel Hiles BVSc (Hons) GPCertSAM MRCVS

Biography

Rachel qualified from Bristol in 2001 and holds the GP Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. She began working at Westfield Vets in 2018 after working for another local practice in Wells for 7 years. Rachel loves working at Westfield because of the fantastic facilities, the welcoming reception, and the steady stream of coffee and biscuits! Outside of work, Rachel's time is taken up running around after her two young daughters, roaming the Mendips with her dog (confusingly called Goose), and causing much hilarity at a local Zumba class with her uncoordinated attempts at dance fitness!

Biography

Nikki qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1995, and was a Head Nurse at Blake Veterinary Group in Bridgwater prior to joining Westfield Vets in 2004. Nikki enjoys dental care and anaesthesia, and processes the insurance claims. She lives on the family farm, owns a Labrador called Brock, a skewbald horse called Murphy, and a menagerie of cats, guinea pigs, ducks, pigs, and pet sheep.

Biography

Claire first started working at Westfield as a Receptionist in 2008. She then spent 3 years as a student nurse at Quantock Veterinary Hospital in Bridgwater, before returning to Westfield as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2011. Since then she gained experience in referral nursing at Cave Veterinary Specialists in Welllington, before returning to Westfield again in March 2017 as part of the management team. She completed the RCVS Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing in September 2018, and has an interest in all aspects of nursing. She is currently studying for a postgraduate certificate in veterinary business management. Outside of work, Claire enjoys running and yoga. She has a very playful cat called Barry.

Nicola Baker RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Biography

Nicola qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1991 and joined the Westfield nursing team in July 2018. She has worked locally throughout her veterinary nursing career, as well as being a mum to two boys. Nicola is interested in all types of patient care. In her spare time Nicola enjoys walking her dogs on the beach and being outside in the countryside.

Amie Matthews RVN

Biography

Amie qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2007 and worked in a neighbouring practice for 13 years before joining Westfield Vets in May 2014. Amie enjoys anaesthesia and caring for patients post operatively. She lives on a farm with cows, pigs, sheep and two border collies who she takes to sheepdog training lessons.

Lucy Diplock RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Biography

Lucy qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2015. She assists in running puppy classes here at Westfield Vets, and has a keen interest in every aspect of nursing. On a day-to day basis she generally focuses on caring for patients during general anaesthesia and their recovery post-operatively. Veterinary nursing is the career that Lucy has always wanted, and she feels grateful everyday that she gets to work with animals in need of care. In her spare time Lucy enjoys walks, great food and being with her family and friends.

Clare Haskins RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Biography

Clare qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2014, having studied at Hartpury College. She has worked in the Somerset area, both in first opinion and referral practice, since qualifying. Clare joined the Westfield team in August 2018. She enjoys caring for inpatients and monitoring anaesthetics. Outside of work she enjoys spending time walking in the countryside, cycling and swimming. She has a cat called Logan, and keeps tropical fish.

Biography

Emma qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1987 and went on to gain her City and Guilds Certificate in Nutrition in 1994 and her BVNA Certificate in Companion Animal Behaviour in 1999. She has worked exclusively with dogs, cats and rabbits for over 30 years and has a passion for improving their health, well being and happiness. She has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of their care including feeding, husbandry, parasite prevention, dental health, training and breeding. She spends most of her time in the consulting room and loves nothing better than meeting pets and their people. Outside of work Emma and her husband are learning to ballroom dance. She also loves walking and cycling but can generally be found somewhere on the Mendips enjoying her children, grandchildren, horses and dogs or at home pampering her cats, rabbits and tortoises!

Millie Godfrey

Biography

Millie joined the practice in July 2017 and completed her veterinary care assistant course. She began her veterinary nurse training in September 2018, and attends college for one day a week alongside her in house learning. At home Millie helps out on the family farm and has a lurcher called Swift. In her spare time she enjoys competing her horse, Harley, and watching 'The Greatest Showman!'

Biography

Gemma originates from Canada and graduated with a Bsc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare in 2010. She has worked as an animal care assistant for the RSPCA in London, as well as an independent practice in Liverpool. She joined the Westfield Team in the summer of 2018, and is very excited to have started studying to gain her registered veterinary nurse qualification at the practice.

Ally Cockram

Biography

Ally grew up on the edge of the Lake District, and moved to Bath in 1984. She then settled in the Chew Valley where she brought up her two sons, Thomas and Will. Ally has previously worked in advertising agencies and hospitality. She joined the Reception team at Westfield in August 2018. Ally loves working with the whole team and meeting clients and their pets. Outside of work, Ally enjoys spending time with family and friends, and her boisterous chocolate lab, Marley.

Denise joined the Reception team in March 2016. After a career in hospitality Denise decided to turn her passion for animals into a career in the veterinary business. Outside of work Denise enjoys walking her Japanese Akita, Eve, and playing with her two cats, Thatcher and Zoe.

Julia Owen

Biography

Julia was born and raised in Somerset and has lived in Wells for the past 22 years. She spent many years in a variety of admin roles, most recently as a PA. She joined the Westifield reception team in June 2018. Julia's hobbies include spending time with her grandchildren and her Hungarian Vizsla, Ruby. Ruby and Julia can often be seen exploring Wells and the surrounding areas.
